Lost pizza co11/20/2023 ![]() We used to take our friends to Pea-Soup’s late at night-usually after a long night of probably drinking too much-and go in the kitchen and whip up something for our buddies. “We always dreamed about owning our own restaurant. “Even in college and after college, I worked in restaurants, and I loved being in the kitchen,” Roberts said. “I made it, like, six months.”īut Lott came from a restaurant family-his parents still own Pea-Soup’s Lott-a-Freeze, a longstanding Indianola spot for burgers, po-boys, fried catfish and hamburger steaks-and the two buddies grew up in the eatery. “I worked in egg production,” he recalls. Lott earned his degree in poultry science. “I got a degree in plant genetics, so I did cotton research for a few years, but I knew I didn’t want to do that forever,” Roberts says. As students at Mississippi State University, both men were poised for careers in agriculture, largely to make their parents happy. Both are self-taught artists-Roberts paints in a blues-influenced folk-pop style, often using old barn wood instead of canvas, while Lott has a gift for turning random junk into found-art showpieces. I wasn't sure on our first visit what the protocol was, but some other guests who entered around the same time let us know that you order & pay at the counter, then take your number to your table.Lost Pizza’s fare has been singled out as the “Best Pizza in Mississippi” by Mississippi Magazine for the past three years in a row.Īt first glance, Roberts and Lott seem unlikely pizza impresarios. I do want to add, that when you visit for the first time, there are paper menus right inside the door, they are helpful to peruse before you head up to the counter to place your order, that way you have an idea of what you want. Overall, this place was quite a "find", and I hope to be a regular customer! I look forward to trying the thin crust on a future visit, I'm sure it's good as well. The toppings and sauce are flavorful, and there was plenty of cheese. ![]() We also shared a pizza, again on thick crust, and it was yummy. There were 2 of us, and the small almost wasn't enough, so if you are big queso fans, you may want to go with the large size. Our second visit we tried the queso & chips, it seemed like a pretty standard Rotel-style queso, and was quite good. I will probably skip the salad in the future. The salad was just meh, there were a few brown pieces of lettuce that were kind of a turn off, and the only other toppings were tomato slices, croutons, and oddly, a pickle. It was a good deal, and a lot of food! The pizza was delicious, and the spaghetti was delicious. the lunch specials, I had an individual pizza (thick crust, pepperoni) with a salad & drink my dining companion had the cheesy baked spaghetti with a salad & drink. I had been meaning to try Lost Pizza since they came to town, but just hadn't gotten around to it yet, and boy was I missing out! We've visited twice in the past month, and both trips have been delicious!
